The Peaks of the Balkans is a hiking trail that covers three countries, Kosovo, Montenegro and Albania. This trail attracs many tourists that are in love with hiking and want to see new places, meet new people and see different cultures. Not only that they seek the beautiful sceneries but also get to know the culture of the people that live in these majestic mountains. Undoubtedly, staying in nature is a wonderful thing, however if you would have to stay for 8 days, without a doubt, that's when the magic kicks in. We were for 8 days in the most beautiful parts of the accursed mountains together with people who later not only became friends with us but also we created a bond that we would never forget. Outdoor Kosova organized a training for future guides in the peaks of the balkans, our intructors were amazing and had professional attributes, they always kept teaching us new things. Our training instructurs were Fatos Katallozi and Mentor Bojku they both did an amazing job and en

A beautiful  qoute by Lovelle Drachman.

In an early Sunday morning Rinor, Lis and I woke up at Jezerca Guest House from a wonderful sleep. We were preparing our stuff and went to eat breakfast straight ahead. We thank Keli Selimaj and his staff for their wonderful and warm hospitality. With the 28th June of 2020 we were waiting for the amazing hiking organisation Kosovo Mountain Club, and the wonderful guides Arineta Mula, Adriatik Gacaferi and Adnan Beqiraj and at the same time our friends. These guys came up with a wonderful idea during the pandemic crisis and ended up founding this wonderful hiking group, that every nature lover can join and enjoy the wonderful views of our beautiful mountains of Albania, Montenegro, Kosovo and North Macedonia.

Kosovo Mountain Club's event was Stani i Rames (Rama's Cabin) and Maja e Rosit (Rosi Peak). Rosi peak stands with an altitude of 2525 meters above the sea level and in order to reach that peak you have to hike 9km one way, it's about 5 to 6 hours each way and it depends in your speed, and with an elevation gain of 1500 meters, which makes it harder for people who aren't used to hike in the mountains. Rosi peak including the other mountain peaks surrounding Valbona Valley, they belong to the Accursed Mountains ( Bjeshket e Nemuna - Alpet Shqiptare), and they're spreaded around three countries such as: Albania, Montenegro and Kosovo.

The hike to Rosi/Roshi is considered the easiest hike considering the fact that the other peaks of Valbona Valley are more technical and harder to reach, and you need to have experience in mountaineering. However, this trail is so beautiful and it offers you mind blowing views that will take your breath away, simply put the Accursed Mountains are outstanding and wild.
In such a manner, after the group came and they told us about their itinerary, we headed towards the mountain with wonderful hikers. The trail has many different views, some consist beautiful forests, flower fiels filled with butterflies, beautiful hills and high cliffs that touch the clouds.

I like this part of the trail so much because it looks brilliant and Rinor Nishevci calls this part of the trail as the Hobbit Trail due to the fact that it resembles the beautiful trails of New Zealand which were recorded during the The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings triology. "Valbona we love you and your mountains, we thank you for letting us visit you everytime of the year and return safe, thank you mother nature."

We continued hiking until we reached Rama's cabin which is high up in the mountains with an altitude of 1700 meters. From the Hobbit Trail to the cabin one average hiker should reach it for about 10 minutes, if he or she doesn't get distracted by the stunnishing views.

The whole group was filled with joy and happiness, not to mention 21TV was recording our hike the whole time kudos to the camera man who carried the gears all the time up to the top of Rosi.

The amazing uncle Rama, he went ahead and took for us drinks and beer and food in order to refresh us when we arrive at his cabin, such an amazing mountain guy. Time past, and we arrived at his place and he welcomed everyone of us and as always telling us about the mountains of Valbona. Arineta and Adnan came along, we took a short break there together with the native Valbona guides Erind and Bledar. We took pictures and ate some snacks and in short the group was about to be split apart, for those who are stronger and faster they went straight ahead towards Rosi peak and the others stayed at Rama's Cabin.

Cathedral high mountains that touch the sky of Albania, where nobody believes that such beautiful mountains could exist in our small and beautiful country. Every year people are starting to realize that mountains are essential for our well being and that mother nature affects us in our mood and happiness.
Because of the outbreak of Covid-19 many people started to excercise and going outdoors, rather than staying in pubs and indoors.

Some say why do you go hiking and I respond because it is worth it. You see mountains that you would never imagine, mountains that are there since the beginning of time just waiting for you to explore them, there is something alive in those mountains, beautiful magic that keeps you addicticed till you inhale your last breath.

To sum up, after some beautiful moments we were aproaching the very top, the time was near and the weather changed as the mountain tends to change the climate by his own will. Almost everyone made it to the top and we took some amazing pictures, people where flabbergasted by the surrounding views of Rosi, which from there you could see Jezerca in Albania, Karanfilat (Cloves) in Montenegro and many other high mountains. In the meantime, Arineta with Rinki, they took some interviews at the top and behind them where some heavy thunderstorms and lightning discharges at the surrounding mountain tops wich gave us a thrilling feeling inside our guts.
Last but not least, it was legendary, we enjoyed it to the fullest and everyone was proud and we wish to visit many more mountains.

This article was based on my feelings that I was experiencing during the hike, I hope you will like my writings and maybe it is a bit too long but you will enjoy it😊
