The Peaks of the Balkans is a hiking trail that covers three countries, Kosovo, Montenegro and Albania. This trail attracs many tourists that are in love with hiking and want to see new places, meet new people and see different cultures. Not only that they seek the beautiful sceneries but also get to know the culture of the people that live in these majestic mountains. Undoubtedly, staying in nature is a wonderful thing, however if you would have to stay for 8 days, without a doubt, that's when the magic kicks in. We were for 8 days in the most beautiful parts of the accursed mountains together with people who later not only became friends with us but also we created a bond that we would never forget. Outdoor Kosova organized a training for future guides in the peaks of the balkans, our intructors were amazing and had professional attributes, they always kept teaching us new things. "Phenomenal hiking adventure in Marjash of the Accursed Mountains."

In these moments that the pandemic created for us, we couldn't visit the mountains for about two months but it felt like years without seeing them. Being able to go and feel the fresh air up there and see the snow slowly melt away from the peaks, that was wonderful.
Being able to escape from the city and go to the wilderness and see rabbits, owls and even bear traces was very amazing.

Two days ago a friend of mine called me and asked me if I would join him to go to the mountains, my immidiate response was "Yess", I was waiting so long to go back where I belonged, in the mountains. Rinor invited me to join his adventure with two other friends from Skenderaj. In such a manner, Jeton and Berat came to pick us up in an early and slowly crowdy Prishtina during the early hours of the morning. After they picked us up and we headed towards the main road, and went to buy some snacks and water for our amazing adventure that was waiting for us.

Also, we arrived at the Monasterie of Decan and from there up the adventure started. Likewise, the last year Rinor and I went the same way but the road conditions where completely different compared to this time. The municipally of Decan had started to construct the road that leads you to the mountain huts of Decan mountains. In other words, we were very surprised by the quality of the road. We headed our amazing way through different parts of the forest, we had to cross small rivers with our car and had to get out of it, and see if everything is ok, which we were able to see the bear traces.

Our plan was to arrive to the mountain huts of Prilep and from there to hike up to the top of Marjash, after some wonderful moments we arrived there. It is a wonderful place, which is hidden between the mountains and deep forest. I was in instant love the first time when I saw it, imagining that Rinor spent his childhood there, collecting tea and blueberries in that wonderful village hidden in the accursed mountains. We saw some locals there that were getting ready to move up on their cabins, we had a quick talk with them and told them that we are going to go to Marjash. The views were amazing, I could not believe that I was there. I recommend to visit these mountain huts once in your lifetimes or maybe more because it is worth it.

The hike from the mountain huts of Prilep to the top of Marjash is an very easy hike because it is very short and beautiful, you can also climb the top from Belegu mountain as well. Without a doubt, this peak is amazing, with the other amazing peaks that surround Marjash it gives you a feeling that you are not in this world. Simply, amazing.
