The Peaks of the Balkans is a hiking trail that covers three countries, Kosovo, Montenegro and Albania. This trail attracs many tourists that are in love with hiking and want to see new places, meet new people and see different cultures. Not only that they seek the beautiful sceneries but also get to know the culture of the people that live in these majestic mountains. Undoubtedly, staying in nature is a wonderful thing, however if you would have to stay for 8 days, without a doubt, that's when the magic kicks in. We were for 8 days in the most beautiful parts of the accursed mountains together with people who later not only became friends with us but also we created a bond that we would never forget. Outdoor Kosova organized a training for future guides in the peaks of the balkans, our intructors were amazing and had professional attributes, they always kept teaching us new things. Our training instructurs were Fatos Katallozi and Mentor Bojku they both did an amazing job and en...

Up and Down through the snaky way of Shtupeqi Vogel.

According to Bear Grylls "A Survival Guide for Life" book, page 21. He states that "When you stand at the bottom of a mountain, you can rarely see a clear route to the top. It is too far away and the path too twisty and hidden behind obstacles". But when you finally arrive, you will see that the struggle was worthy.

There is a beautiful place hidden somewhere in a high mountain in Rugova Mountains which is called Shtupeq i Vogel, to get there you have to hike through different trees and pines that covers a good distance of 8 km. However, when you get there you will be astonished by the views of that mountain that provides you. After you arrive at the fascinating mountain huts of Shtupeq you will see a long road formed like a snake with many curves that pierces through the forest.

Up there in the mountain huts was a water source that we could fill our bottles. From there we could not see the mountain peak but we kept going. The summit is called Vjellak and has an altitude of 2014 meters, which from up there you could see many mountains of Rugova and the whole Kosovo. As Bear Grylls would say " The true champion, the true summiteer, hangs out with those who help and inspire them to be even better - through encouragement, through their actions and through their attitudes".

Sometimes when you find yourself in difficult situations you think about life and how to come up with different conclusions, whether you are somewhere in the mountain or even in the city you need to think positive and be patient because good things come slowly. But if you have good friends that accompany you during a hike or whenever you are, you instantly feel better and happier. As Bear Grylls states from his book " A Survival Guide for Life" at the page 132-133 following " Picking friends and expedition members who are better than you is a sure way to grow yourself. It elevates us, it inspires us, and together we all get stronger. But most people do the opposite: they pick friends or team members who are just a little "lower" down the pecking order than they are, because it makes them feel superior. But that is not the path to growth - it is the path of mediocrity".

Along these lines, I encourage you to take many adventures find your spirit up there, feed your heart with beautiful moments that last forever. Mountains have a way to express their energy towards you and that makes us feel powerful and peace emerges from inside. The fun and joy during the ascend are unspeakable to describe, such a beautiful place that leaves you speechless and you wish to stay there forever. When we arrived at the summit of Vjellak, we sat there gazing at that magnificent view and we ate something. Later on, Shpendi and Laureat came and they were so hungry, and I was laughing with them because they were tired and thirsty that the only thing they wanted was to eat and drink water. Hence, I gave Shpendi a bottle of water, he kept sipping on it, till it was dry. After that we made many pictures together and with me was a great friend that loves to read my stories about our adventures and loves to be a part of it. I was amazed to hike up and be a part of this adventure.
