Buljec Peak. |
It was the 10th of March, a fine Sunday morning, you open the window and what do you see is the great Sharr mountains, they were looking remarkable as ever. I was preparing for yesterday's hike. We were going to Pisha e Madhe or Kopana Voda in Prizeren.
After we started from Prishtina we made our first stop at Jora Center which is in Komoran, we bought food and something to drink. The weather was sunny and clear, I was with Ismet, he lives a very healthy life, he was eating pumpkin seeds and offered me some too, they were delicious. Continuing our journey of joy, the road was dividing from the distance two huge mountains, Pashtrik and Koritnik. They are so astonishing and mystic mountains. Later on, we went to pick the hikers from Prizeren up. In order to go to Pisha e madhe, we headed for the village of Lubizhde, and from there up we went a long snaky way to a small village called Skorobisht, this village is inhabited with Terbesh people. Subsequently, we arrived there and got out from the buses, people were stretching from the long way, and we were preparing for our adventure.
From 10 am we started our ascent through the village, the road was covered with Sidewalk bricks which leaded us till the first mountain spring. We stopped there to wait for the others and to drink some spring water. The trail of sidewalk bricks started to fade away and replacing with mud and sand, the weather was hot, many of us were wearing t-shirts, people were taking selfies, but the highlight was that Benny was using a 500 mm lens for his Camera, with that equipment he was able to catch a person standing on a mountain peak from the distance. After a couple of minutes we made our second stop and there was a beautiful flower field, a reminder that the winter is slowly ending. "Chionodoxa luciliae" or also known as " Snowdrop Flower " which comes in three colors Blue, White and Pink.

We stayed there for 10 to 15 minutes and had a fantastic time there. What a wonderful hike, there were so many mountain springs during our way to Kopana Voda, we started to see a wonderful view ahead of us, which let us speechless. There came a time where we found ourselves at the midway to Kopana Voda, the road goes up to the right. From up there we could see Pashallore from far away, we could see only a tip of the summit, in some other peaks the snow was starting to melt away. I was feeling the wind on my face, the sun was shining so bright, you know the feeling when you are standing in the sun and it warms every part of your body, it gives you a great feeling, I felt strong. After a long adventurous path we arrived at Kopana Voda, it was 12:50 and we had 45 minutes break.

People were drinking and eating, enjoying the sun, the breeze of wind, they were having so much fun because the majority of them work during weekdays and tend to relax during a fantastic - How would say Bear Grylls "StrongEnd" and not a "WeakEnd". During that time I was searching for someone that was his or her first time in a hike. I found a girl, her name was Dafina, it was her first time ever in a hike, she never experienced anything like this before. According to her: she was very satisfied of herself, she was very excited from this hiking trip, she even added that she wants to make it as her habit. I asked her if she was tired from a scale from 1-10, Dafina replied 4 and with a huge smile said to me that she was very proud of herself because she was going to reach a summit for the first time in her life. I love to meet people like Dafina because in those people happen the adventures, the seeking of greatness, the awakening of oneself. After I was done asking her, Engjell gave me a big slice of Prosciutto which I enjoyed it very much, big thanks to him.
Later on, I wanted to find an expert in hiking and mountaineering to ask him some questions. With us was Bekim Bytyqi from Prizeren, a proffesional licensed mountain guide which is working for 10 years now. He was leading the group of Hiking Njeri with 150 people to the summit of Buljec, he also monitors the Sharr National Park and is also known as Sharri Ecotour. He added that: "The altitude of which we were staying was 1550 m". According to him the place is called "Kopana Voda" or in Albanian Uji i ngroposur" and since the year of 1960 this mountain hut is in The National Park of Sharr Mountains and shall be protected for the next generations.

At 2 pm we arrived at the summit, we had a magnificent panoramic view of the Sharr mountains, a 360 degree perspective of the mountains surrounding us. It was such a great feeling to be on the top, the people were having great fun up there, taking pictures, eating and drinking, some were relaxing and sleeping, and some were singing. Engjell and his brother and me on the other hand were eating crepes and drinking our favorite drink Dukat Fit which consisted of 30 grams of protein, I said to Engjel they should sponsor us because we always take these protein drinks to the mountains, he nodded, and said why not and laughed, he even said to send them an email. Bekim started to descend the first with a group and after him I went to around 3 pm. We started to descend the group from the summit and to return back to the mountain hut and from there to the village.
Sometimes when you are alone and you let the people go to the buses and that they are going the right way there is no need for concern. Being this time alone in the mountains makes me feel alive, hearing the wind and the trees creaking, from here up I could see Prizeren and the mountains called Koritinik and Pashtrik and behind them a mountain in Albania which is called Gjallica. Over Koritnik's peak is a cloud which is covering the half of the snowy summit and looks wonderful. A saying about Koritnik says that before many years ago, thousand of years, this mountain was a Volcano due to its geographical form. During that time, gazing at the mountains, I arrived with the majority of the group at Skorobisht, after some minutes everyone came and we headed back to Prizeren and went to Viva Fresh Store to drink a coffee and have something to eat and finally we arrived to Prishtina and everyone was joyous and happy.
