  The Peaks of the Balkans is a hiking trail that covers three countries, Kosovo, Montenegro and Albania. This trail attracs many tourists that are in love with hiking and want to see new places, meet new people and see different cultures. Not only that they seek the beautiful sceneries but also get to know the culture of the people that live in these majestic mountains. Undoubtedly, staying in nature is a wonderful thing, however if you would have to stay for 8 days, without a doubt, that's when the magic kicks in. We were for 8 days in the most beautiful parts of the accursed mountains together with people who later not only became friends with us but also we created a bond that we would never forget. Outdoor Kosova organized a training for future guides in the peaks of the balkans, our intructors were amazing and had professional attributes, they always kept teaching us new things. Adventurous day at Kunora summit.

A great saying of Reinhold Messner always triggers my heart for more adventures. "The wonderful things in life are the things you do, not the things you have".


It was a calm Sunday morning, the sun was hiding somewhere in the clouds. We chose to go hiking with Hiking Njeri, people started to come at the meeting point which was Bukatore in the Sunny Hill. The third of March was going to be a fantastic day. We started from Bukatore with a  double-decker bus, and we were heading to Gjakova. During that time we had so much fun in there, and later we stopped in a supermarket called Nora Market in Klina in order to buy food and water for our hiking trip. The mountain peak was located in the mountain range of Pashtrik, a very beautiful mountain.

To get there we had to go to Gjakova and then to a village called Gerqine. After a long way at last we arrived in Gerqine, after we prepared everything we started to hike from 10 AM in the morning. First of all, we started to hike through the village which was very scenic due to the amazing views.Secondly, we began to hike through a forest with a rocky and muddy terrain, water was streaming down from the mountain, the sound of the water was very relaxing to us, some flowers started blooming, a sign that the winter started to fade slowly away.

We made a short stop to take a group picture and with us was a local guide from the village which name was Xhafer, he was telling us about the mountain and the caves that we are going to visit them. In his younger days, he used to hike up these mountains together with his friends and relatives. It was a really great experience up there. We started to get out of the forest and the peak started to show up, it felt so near but in the same time so far away.

Considering that it was still winter but the majority of the time there was no snow at all, however approaching by each step nearer to the peak the snow started to get deeper and deeper. Last year we hiked up this peak in a different trail but this time we went from the Albanian side. The adventure began from there, because we had to do even a bit of rock climbing in order to get to the caves and eventually to reach the summit, that was legendary. The cave's was names as Llapatan according to Xhafer, and I never seen something like this before, we had a very beautiful time in there. Everyone was having fun and each one was starting to reach the summit, it was so beautiful because you could see the Pashtrik mountain, it was very near, from the distance you could see Koritnik alongside with Gjallica, in other words it was magical. We arrived there around 2 PM and from there you could see the whole mountain range of the Sharr mountains from the left side and the Accursed mountains from the right. We stayed there for an hour and ate something, some hikers made a fire, and everyone was having fun. We continued to descend from the very peak and eventually arriving at the village around 6 PM and returning back to Prishtina with a happy smile on our faces. As Ben Islami would say "Live to the maxx".

"Lepusha" The obscure village in the Accursed Mountains.

 Magnificent mountains always make sure to give us something special that no one understands, the power of the mountains that exeeds our human expectations and desires. And, such a place exists in Albania too, Lepusha.   Lepusha is a hidden village deep in the accursed mountains and has outstanding views. Lepusha is surrounded by many stunning mountains that are over 2000 meters high, the village itself has an altitude of 1300m. With the 29th and 30th Kosovo Mountain Club organized a wonderful adventure in Lepusha and the peak called Vajusha which has the most spectacular views in the accursed mountains.  During our way we saw some amazing places like this one that resembles the winding roads of Norway. This road is on the way to Selce and are called "Leqet e Hotit" and you can visit this road either by driving from Shkodra or Plav. The mountain pass of Brekije - Mustafe Village, Albania

  Last weekend, we had a wonderful adventure to the villages of Brekije, Tershene and Mustafaj. We had an amazing weather and some amazing views. Brekije is a village located deep in the mountains of the national park Korab - Koretnik in Kukes, Albania. This village has some amazing views and you can reach this village with 4x4 vehicles or with Furgona as the locals describe them. From the village to the pass the hike is around 500m elevation gain and is very suitable even for the biginners, and the descend to other two villages is around 1250m, the trail leads you to some hidden villages that lie in the foot of the mountain of Gjallica. Albania has so many mountains worth visiting, furthermore the passes that Albania posseses are one of the most beautiful passes of this region.
